Marcotte said “the e-mail scandal is: we got 30,000 e-mails and found nothing in them.”
That’s false. As Comey reported, “FBI investigators… read all of the approximately 30,000 e-mails Secy. Clinton provided to the State Dept. in 2014… From the… 30,000 e-mails…, 110 e-mails in 52 e-mail chains… contain[ed] classified information at the time they were sent or received. Eight of those chains contained information that was top secret at the time…, 36 of those chains contained secret information at the time, and eight contained confidential information at the time…”
You said, “To weaken one’s union in the face of [economic anxiety] makes no sense.”
What also made no sense was for unionized workers to vote for a six-year veteran of the board of Walmart whose running mate favors right-to-work. The Democrats would have won had they nominated a pro-labor ticket.
Marcotte said, “Think of how many Iraqis died.”
I did, which is why I voted for Stein/Baraka. In this campaign, even Trump talked about the civilian victims of the interventions Clinton supported. The Democrats would have won had they nominated a pro-peace ticket.
Marcotte said, “Democratic voters just stayed home… [i]n part because… [of] 15 months of lefties… saying… Clinton wasn’t the purest… person ever, which I think has a lot to do with sexism… [P]eople started to see her as… conservative when she’s not…”
You added, “No one did that to John Kerry. Dennis Kucinich’s people didn’t revolt…”
In 2004, Kucinich drew 600K votes. In 2016, Sanders drew 13M. Also, neither Kerry nor Obama demeaned liberals. Clinton and her surrogates alienated Sanders’s supporters via continual insults: “Young people look at Bernie as their grandpa,” “They don’t do their own research,” “The boys are with Bernie,” “special place in hell,” “complacency among the generation of young women,” etc.
What was sexist was to shame women because they voted for Sanders, who was more favorable to women’s rights than Clinton was.
Marcotte said in reference to many of Sanders’s delegates, “They were completely out of control. I just wanted to throttle them [and say], ‘Grow the f**k up!’ …A lot of them were just loony.”
That is exactly the attitude that cost Clinton the election. If the Clintonites continue to be so disrespectful, they should expect to continue to lose.
